BYU is happy to be close to home for the NCAA Tournament in Denver.
“It’s really nice. Hopefully we have a terrific crowd,” said guard Jackson Emery. “We’ve had terrific crowds throughout the whole year. To have it close to Utah is really big for us. Hopefully, we’ll have a big turnout because we’re going to need that sixth man on our bench.”
Jimmer Fredette was glad to have a short flight. “That’s always nice not to have to travel across the country,” he said. “That’s good for us. It’s exciting to play close to home and have some hometown fans there.”
Fredette’s girlfriend, Whitney Wonnacott, a BYU cheerleader, is from the Denver area, and her family will be among those attending Thursday’s game.
