Winter wonderland in Albuquerque

What’s up with the weird weather that seems to follow BYU around for its bowl games lately? Two years ago, it snowed in Las Vegas for the first time in three decades. Last year’s Las Vegas Bowl featured 50-mile-per-hour wind gusts.
So far here in Albuquerque, the Cougars have had to deal with wind (Wednesday’s practice) and rain-turning-to-snow this morning. BYU players and coaches endured a steady rainfall but were able to get in a solid practice. As reporters were doing interviews afterwards, snow flurries began to swirl.

Coach Bronco Mendenhall was asked about the status of freshman defensive lineman Tayo Fabuluje and junior wide receiver O’Neill Chambers. There have been rumors for a while that Fabuluje is looking at transferring. Mendenhall confirmed that Fabuluje, who’s from Texas, has been released from his scholarship and is free to look at options elsewhere. Mendenhall said Fabuluje wants to be closer to home.
As for Chambers, who was suspended indefinitely earlier this season, he could attend school at BYU if he chooses, but will not play for the Cougars next season, according to Mendenhall.
