Fredette honored again

As expected, after he scored 26 points against Vermont and 33 against Arizona, BYU senior Jimmer Fredette was named the Mountain West Conference player of the week today. It’s the second time this season and ninth time in Fredette’s career that he’s won the award.
Later today when the new polls are released the Cougars should move up in both polls.

BYU senior Jimmer Fredette has been named the Mountain West Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week for games through December 12. This is the ninth career weekly accolade for Fredette.

Fredette led the Cougars to a 2-0 record in a pair of neutral-site outings last week. In an 86-58 win over Vermont in Fredette’s hometown of Glens Falls, N.Y., he po sted a game-high 26 points, five assists and one steal. The senior guard followed that performance with a season-best, and game-high, 33 points in an 87-65 victory over Arizona in Salt Lake City, Utah. He added a career-high nine rebounds, three assists and one steal, while going 11-of-22 from the field, including 3-of-6 from 3-point range, and 8-of-9 (.889) from the free throw line. For the week, Fredette averaged 29.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 1.0 steals.
