BYU football injury update: Heaps and So'oto

BYU’s 17-16 loss at Utah last Saturday was emotional and physical.

The Cougars are not practicing this week in order to heal up and focus on academic work while waiting for a bowl invitation, which is expected to come Sunday. As we’ve reported, it’s looking like BYU could end up in the New Mexico Bowl on Dec. 18.

This afternoon, BYU officials let us know about a couple of injuries the Cougars sustained in the Utah game.
Quarterback Jake Heaps has a sore left (non-throwing) shoulder and rib contusion. Defensive lineman Vic So’oto has a “jammed” shoulder. So’oto will undergo an MRI soon so doctors and trainers can evaluate that injury further.
