Glens Falls game set for Dec. 8
According to this report from PostStar.com, Jimmer Fredette’s homecoming game at the Glens Falls Civic Center has been set for Dec. 8. As you can tell, Fredette returning to his hometown is a big deal to basketball fans back there. This should be one of BYU’s more interesting road games in years. Can we say packed house for sure?

BYU officials normally don’t talk about games on next season’s schedule until the entire schedule is finalized, but we also know that the Cougars will host Arizona at EnergySolutions Arena on Dec. 11. Hawaii, UTEP, Fresno State and Utah State also have return games against BYU this coming season, and the Cougars are going to play in the South Padre Island Invitational on the Thursday and Friday after Thanksgiving. Texas Tech and St. Mary’s are two other teams in that tournament.
Also, sometime this week we’re likely going to find out if Fredette is going to declare for the NBA draft. Most likely, he will, but won’t hire an agent. And, most likely, if he doesn’t get feedback that he’s going to be a first-round pick, he’ll pull his name out before the May 8 deadline. I think the only way he turns pro if is he gets a workout or two with some NBA teams and they give him some assurance that they’ll take him with a first-round pick. The odds are he’ll be back at BYU next season.
I’m also trying to keep tabs with recruit Stephen Rogers – the 6 foot 8 forward from Mesa, Arizona – who is still weighing his choice between BYU and Utah State, while finishing up his school work at Mesa Community College. Rogers was in Provo this past weekend. This morning, Monday, Rogers sent me a text saying “I’ll let ya know as soon as I do.” I think that indicates that he’s facing a very tough decision.
