Davies out 10-14 days
BYU coach Dave Rose said freshman center Brandon Davies’ appendectomy on Wednesday night went well. Davies was released from the hospital Thursday afternoon and actually attended practice in the Marriott Center, but did not participate. Doctors say he’ll be out 10-14 days, but team officials expect he’ll be on the exercise bike sometime next week. Some recover faster than others from a surgery of this type, so there’s a chance Davies could be practicing late next week and maybe even be ready to go for Feb. 13 against Air Force. More likely, he won’t be in action until the Cougars hit the road the following week for games at Colorado State and Wyoming. And obviously, he won’t play Saturday against UNLV, which means the Cougars are going to need a big game from sophomore center James Anderson in the back-up role to starter Chris Miles.
Freshman guard Tyler Haws, who got a little light-headed after a hit to the head in Tuesday’s win over TCU, is back to normal.
