Big game in the Lone Star State

So, how many of you BYU fans are already making plans to attend the BYU-Texas game on Sept. 10, 2011 in Austin? No doubt, it will be a big game and should have national implications. Both programs will go with new starting quarterbacks next season, so by 2011, both should have experienced players at that position.

One BYU player who is especially excited about this matchup is freshman wide receiver Ross Apo, who originally committed to Texas before changing his mind and committing to BYU.

Yes, BYU and Texas have played twice before, with the Cougars winning both games in 1987 and 1988, but the Longhorns were way, way down during those years. The buildup and atmosphere for the 2011 showdown will be big. There’s no information yet on which network will broadcast the game, but, as BYU athletic director Tom Holmoe said, “I don’t think there’s too many games that Texas plays that aren’t on national TV.”

Over the years, BYU has played at storied places like Notre Dame, Alabama and USC (of course, the Cougars will travel to Florida State next fall).

What are some other schools you’d like to see BYU schedule in the near future and why?
