Fredette's illness more serious than strep throat

Cougar guard Jimmer Fredette, who was thought to have been suffering from strep throat, reportedly has mononucleosis. I’m in El Paso where the Cougars are preparing for tonight’s game against the UTEP Miners, and I saw BYU’s coaching staff in the hotel lobby a few minutes ago, but I have not been able to speak to anyone associated with the team who can give me more details on the illness right now. Fredette is here in El Paso, but whether he’ll play tonight remains uncertain. Once I get more details on how the illness will affect him in the near future and how BYU plans to manage the situation, I’ll pass that along.
