Make it a BYU package deal in Las Vegas
Figuring the Cougars were going to get the invite to the Maaco Bowl in Las Vegas, BYU athletic officials began negotiating last week with the organizers of the Hoopstv Las Vegas Classic, the two-day eight-team tournament at the Orleans Arena that the Cougar hoops team is participating in on Dec. 22 and Dec. 23. BYU asked if the Dec. 22 game could be played at a time to accommodate Cougar fans who would want to attend both the basketball game and football game that day in Las Vegas. The football game begins at 5 p.m., Vegas time, and the basketball game, against Nevada, was schedule to start at 7:30. The Las Vegas Classic people have agreed to flip-flop the brackets on the first day, Dec. 22, so the Cougars now play at noon that day, which will give fans who attend the basketball game at least two hours to get to Sam Boyd Stadium for the bowl game against Oregon State.
