Tuesday practice report
The flu is making the rounds on BYU’s football team. Wide receiver O’Neill Chambers did not practice Tuesday because he is ill. Several others sat out of practice as well.
“About 10 guys have had the flu, or are just getting over it,” coach Bronco Mendenhall said after practice. “So there is a flu bug going around on our team. Most of those guys are getting back now. It hit us hard right before the San Diego State game. There are some lingering effects today. But a lot of those guys that have had it are returning.”
Team trainers have taken precautionary measures to limit exposure to the flu as much as possible.
Wide receiver McKay Jacobson, who injured his hamstring during warmups prior to the Utah State game and hasn’t played since, is listed as “possible to doubtful” for Saturday’s game against TCU. Jacobson had targeted this game for his return, but he should find out if he’s okay to play by Thursday.
