On to Tulane

Just finished watching Miami’s dramatic win over Florida State. It’s too bad for BYU that the Seminoles didn’t win that game. Now, FSU might not be ranked when it comes to Provo on Sept. 19.

Speaking of rankings, the polls are supposed to be coming out soon and it will be interesting to see how far the Cougars move up after defeating Oklahoma.

BYU held practice today in the indoor facility. As excited as the Cougars were about their opening-season victory, they were business-like in their approach as they started getting ready for Tulane this weekend in New Orleans. From talking to a few players, they seem to be focused on their next task at hand and not getting overconfident about what they just accomplished. They say they’ve learned important lessons from last season.

Coach Bronco Mendenhall said he’s watched the BYU-OU game three times and is already deep into preparation for Tulane.

Mendenhall said linebacker Matt Bauman (mild concussion) is probable for Saturday and he’s hopeful that running back Harvey Unga will be available.

BYU will hold its weekly media get-together Tuesday morning (it’s usually on Monday, but was pushed back a day because of Labor Day).
