Reynolds might be sidelined with fractured hand
The BYU Cougars have only one returning starting offensive lineman, but now it’s looking like Matt Reynolds, who was a freshman All-American out of Timpview High, might be sidelined for a while with a fractured left hand. Reynolds hurt the hand in team drills, and x-rays after practice revealed a fracture. Reynolds, a left-side tackle, will have the injury examined later today by a specialist and the team is expected to know more on Thursday about the extent of the injury and how long Reynolds will be sidelined.
The other injury news is that inside linebacker Terrence Hooks will miss two weeks because of the hamstring injury suffered early in the week. D-Back Brandon Bradley is out with a sore knee, but the good news is that an MRI came back negative. Houston Reynolds, Matt Reynolds younger brother, has a quad strain and it’s uncertain how long he’ll be out. Blake Morgan also missed practice with a sore hamstring, linebacker Grant Nelson, linebacker Dan Van Sweden and defensive back Robbie Buckner are nursing various minor injuries. Outside linebacker Jordan Pendleton went down during the team-on-team with an ankle injury, but it didn’t seem to be anything long-term and he was seen jogging around after practice. A handful of other players were gone Wednesday with illness or taking finals for summer classes.
