Magnusson verbally commits to BYU
In the middle of finals at Salt Lake Community College this morning, former Bruins and Wasatch High forward Logan Magnusson called BYU’s coaches and verbally agreed to take the final basketball scholarship the Cougars have available for next year.
He’s a versatile 6-foot-6 forward who can help the Cougars in a variety of ways, but mainly as a defender, passer and rebounder. He’s a solid shooter – making 53 percent of his shots for SLCC – and led the Bruins with 3.5 assists per game. He brings experience to the Cougars and should compete for playing time at both forward positions – which is BYU’s thinnest spot with the departure of Lee Cummard and Archie Rose. In watching Magnusson on the court, he’s the kind of player that coaches love because he does everything well and makes good team decisions. His addition to the Cougars sets up a good battle for playing time in the forward spots between him, Charles Abouo, Noah Hartsock and incoming freshmen Tyler Haws and Brandon Davies. Magnusson also shores up the position should starter Jonathan Tavernari decide not to return for his senior season.
