Does win over Utah lock Cougars into NCAA tournament?
I know a lot of you follow these so-called experts who constantly predict which teams are in the Big Dance and exactly where they’ll play and who they’ll play. Myself, I think there’s some merit in trying to figure out which teams are likely in and which ones on the bubble, and which ones out, but I don’t see any value in trying to figure out who will play who. That’s far too unpredictable.
So I found this web site that actually does all the analyzing of all the tournament analyzing for you. It’s called the Bracket Project’s Bracket Matrix. All this site does is monitor what all of the bracket prognosticators are predicting, so you don’t have to Google them all yourself. The site gives the prediction from 55 bracket web sites. It shows each seed and then list all the teams by average.
As for BYU, here’s what we have from the 55 web sites included in the bracket matrix. Fifty-four have BYU in the tournament, with an average seed that seems to fluctuate hourly from a No. 8 to a No. 9. Interestingly, though, most of the sites that have the Cougars a No. 10 seed or higher have not updated their bracket since before BYU’s win at San Diego State and follow-up win over Utah. Eleven sites have BYU a seven seed or better. The one that excludes BYU was last updated Feb. 23.
The site shows Utah averaging a No. 7 seed, UNLV and Utah State both 11 seeds and Weber State a No. 14. Currently, San Diego State and New Mexico are not getting enough love from the bracketeers to make the tournament. Here’s the link so you can see what 55 so-called experts think of BYU’s tournament forecast.
