Almost 24 hours until kickoff…

BYU completed their final walk-through earlier today. Coach Bronco Mendenhall and team captains David Nixon and Max Hall attended a news conference at the Las Vegas Convention Center. Arizona coach Mike Stoops and players Ronnie Palmer and Mike Thomas also attended.

The Cougars arrived about 10 minutes late for the event. Asked why, Mendenhall said, “Duff (Tittle, BYU’s associate athletic director) almost crashed us on the highway. The comment I made was, ‘They can’t start without us. We’re going to be okay.”
Noticing that Tittle was within earshot, Mendenhall said, “Sorry to sell you out like that.”
“You forgot to mention the part about making a really good adjustment,” Tittle said.
“He did make a good adjustment,” Mendenhall told reporters. “Max actually called it a ‘savvy adjustment.’ Now you know the story.”

The show both teams watched on Tuesday night, “Stomp out Loud,” came up as a topic of conversation a few times. Mendenhall said it’s the best show he’s seen since coming here for the Las Vegas Bowl. Thomas also said he really enjoyed the performance.

After the news conference, there was a luncheon and former NFL quarterback Joe Theismann was the keynote speaker.

Tonight, the Cougars will hold a fireside in Henderson.
