BYU officially lands four recruits. Settles on two redshirts.

Today is early signing day for basketball recruits, and BYU got a signature from all four of its Utah County recruits
Signing with the Cougars on Wednesday were Lone Peak’s Tyler Haws and Nate Austin, Provo’s Brandon Davies and Orem’s Ian Harward.
Here’s what coach Dave Rose had to say about each:
On Haws, a 6-foot-4 guard who was Utah’s Mr. Basketball last year: “Tyler is the ultimate competitor. He possesses a unique combination of toughness and skill. He has a nice mid-range jumper, can shoot the three and finishes very well at the basket.”
On Austin, a 6-foot-10 center: “Nate has a unique combination of size and skill. He can stretch the defense with his perimeter shooting, has great basketball instincts and runs well for a player his size.”
On Harward, a 6-foot-10 center: “I like Ian’s work ethic. He plays with energy and passion and is skilled in the post, runs well, good rebounder and shot blocker, good energy.”
On Davies, a 6-foot-9 forward/center: ” Brandon is a very versatile player. He can play with his back to the basket or step out and play on the perimeter. He’s a great rebounder and runs the floor very well.”
The redshirts: Rose announced Tuesday that freshman walk-on Michael Boswell will redshirt and then go on an LDS Church mission at the end of the season. On Wednesday he added sophomore guard Michael Loyd to the redshirt list.
“If you use that redshirt right, there’s certain kids who can do it and really use it to benefit and I think Mike’s (Loyd) one of those type of guys. I think he can really improve his game with a year . . . Mike is going to be a really good player for us,” Rose said.
