Looking to BCS standings
The BCS standings debut in a couple of weeks (Oct. 19). In mock BCS standings, BYU is ranked as low as No. 14 due in large part to the computer rankings. A lot of that has to do with the strength of schedule, or lack thereof. The Cougars aren’t getting much help from past opponents. Washington is winless and UCLA, though it won last week, is struggling.
Still, BYU knows it just needs to keep winning and not worry about the computer or human polls. If it does, things should take care of themselves. Of course, winning is easier said than done. Games at TCU and Utah, in particular, will be difficult. If they win those, in addition to the rest of the games on their schedule, the Cougars should receive a BCS berth.
Trivia time: With a 5-0 record, this marks only the fifth time in BYU history it has started a season with five consecutive wins. The other years: 1979, 1981, 1984 and 2001.
