More from Friday morning's practice

It looks like walk-on Andrew Rich has established himself at safety. He has been preparing to play both the kat and free spots, backing up David Tafuna and Kellen Fowler. With Tafuna not participating in drills after suffering a concussion during last week’s scrimmage, Rich has stepped in and performed well.
As for the fourth safety spot, there’s a battle between Shiloah Te’o, Daniel Sorensen, Steven Thomas and Jordan Pendleton. On Friday, Pendleton rotated in with the third team along with Blake Morgan.

C.J. Santiago continues to impress during fall camp, booming long punts on a regularly consistent basis.

Luke Ashworth, Reed White and Bryce Mahuika were among those handling punt returns in practice, along with Harvey Unga and O’Neill Chambers.

Running back Fui Vakapuna suffered a slight shoulder strain, but it doesn’t appear to be serious.

Running back Wayne Latu broke off some nice runs against the second-team defense during 11-on-11 drills.

Defensive lineman Jan Jorgensen said he’s confident in the defense. ‘As long as we can keep up with our offense, I’m not worried about us keeping up with anybody else. Our offense is one of the best in the country.’
